 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking:  

 In 1987, the UN General Assembly decided to observe 26 June as the International Day against
 Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking as an expression of its determination to strengthen action
 and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse.

 We at the SUBSTANCE ABUSE ADVISORY COUNCIL SECRETARIAT are committed to the
 fight against Drug Abuse. We believe that the dream of a drug free community is not impossible,
 and hence, will continue the awareness drive, and the promotion of a drug-free lifestyle among
 St. Lucians, especially our youth. This year's goal, for both the international community and ours
 here at home, is to inspire people and mobilize support for drug control.

 This year's theme for International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is

 Drug Control
 "Do drugs control your life? Your life. Your community. No place for drugs"

 Alternatives to the theme can be adapted to suit different situations for different audiences.
